Family

Family is the people you choose to build your life around. Sometimes that means blood relatives. Sometimes it means the friends who become just as important. Either way, family is where our lives actually happen.

But right now, too many people in Georgia barely have time for the people they love. Work schedules are demanding, time off is limited, and when big moments happen in our lives, we are often forced to choose between our job and our family.

That should not be the way our society works.

I believe Georgia should guarantee paid parental leave so new parents can spend time with their children during the most important early months of life. No one should have to rush back to work days after bringing a child into the world because they cannot afford the time off.

I also believe families deserve meaningful bereavement and caregiving leave so people can be present when loved ones are seriously ill or nearing the end of their lives. These are the moments that define our lives. Our laws should recognize that.

A healthy society should not treat work as the center of everything.

Work is important, but it is not the purpose of life. The purpose of life is building relationships, raising families, caring for one another, and creating communities where people feel supported.

Georgia should be a place where people have the time and the freedom to be there for the people they love. I want to help build a future where families come first.
